The two pieces below are something new on my site. They are made of a shiny fabric that the merchants call sabra and say is made from cactus (or silk, if one looks truly gullible) but is probably rayon. It has a nice drape, and is often in soft colors. These pieces would be especially nice on the wall or draped over a piece of furniture; I would only use them on the floor in a low-traffic area. Also, the merchant said they should not be washed, which supports the theory that they are rayon which often shrinks.

Piece 4.14581 is in a soft red-orange (it reminds me of tomato soup) and gold with accents in white and bits of soft blue and green, seen best in the close-up. It is about 3' x 5' (38.5" x 58" or 98 x 147 cm) and costs $95. SOLD

Piece 4.14583 is in lovely tones of gold, browns and white. You can see the subtle color variations, plus a hint of blue in a stripe, in this detail. The size is about 35" x 53" (89 x 135 cm) and the price is $95.

Piece 3.13687 is a different style of flatweave wool rug from the red Zemmour. It comes from southern Morocco and is called an akhnif. These rugs are simpler than many in Morocco, with fewer designs, and accents that appear embroidered onto the rug, although they are usually added while the rug is on the loom being woven, not afterward. You can see the "embroidery" clearly on this detail. This rug is a soft grayed blue with forest green, and the accents in red, white, black and gold. The gray shadows on the right are just that: shadows of tree branches. It measures about 3'1" x 4'8" (94 x 142cm) and costs $75. This piece is SOLD but if you like this simpler flatweave style, look at the N'kob section of Women Weavers OnLine in the Shop for many more.

The small flatweave rugs below are called Oued Zem rugs or children's rugs and they are relatively new and quite plentiful in Morocco. While most my rugs are wool, these use acrylic yarn for the designs, and sometimes mix wool and acrylic for the background color. Although one can't usually get an identical one, if you see something that's sold and would like to order a similar one, perhaps in a different background color, you could email me and I can get one on my next trip, or ask my associate Habiba to buy and ship one right away from Morocco. That latter option will add about $25 to the price for airmail shipping and handling from Morocco. The bright colors could rub off on a carpet underneath, so they should be used with a pad.

Piece 4.14468 is in an orangey-red with multicolored animals and geometric designs. Look at this detail and see if you can decide what the animals are - I can't. The size is about 40" x 57" (101 x 145 cm) and the price is $85. SOLD

Piece 3.13689 is a blue children's rug with geometric designs, branched plants and imaginary animals which you can see best in this close-up. The animals there have long ears, or horns, and long tails - what might they be? Rabbits? Gazelles? You'll notice there are also larger animals with the ears but no legs or tails. This piece measures about 3'2" x 4'8" (96 x 142cm) and costs $85. SOLD, but you can order a similar one in blue or black or white and sometimes other colors.

Piece 3.13691 is a children's rug in black, this one with only colorful geometric designs and without a central "cross" outline like those above. While these designs may look fairly similar, this detail shows the variation. The size is about 3' x 5' (91 x 152cm) and the price is $85. SOLD, but you can order a similar one in black.
